Fun Things To Do In Hollywood
HEAD FOR THE BEACH
Everybody from the frost-bitten to the sun-dried will find refreshment at L.A. beaches. Marvel at Muscle Beach in Venice Beach, attend an outdoor art show or jazz concert at Marina Del Rey or take in spectacular coastal views from Santa Monica Pier. L.A.’s magnificent coastline stretches for 72 miles from Malibu to Long Beach and delights visitors and residents all year long.
Griffith Park
There is lots to see and do at this 4,107-acre park, one of the nation’s largest. Facilities include 28 tennis courts, many picnic and sports areas, and miles of horseback and hiking trails. Discover the Griffith Park Observatory with its Planetarium Theater, and Travel Town, a one-of-a-kind vehicular museum with locomotives and breathtaking views of the city. Other park features include: the Los Angeles Equestrian Center, Fern Dell Park, and, for a nominal fee, the merry-go-round, pony rides and train rides. Griffith Park Visitors’ Center is located at 4720 Crystal Springs Drive. 213-665-5188.
Hollywood Walk of Fame
More than 1,900 Hollywood legends have been immortalized since 1958 in the terrazzo-and-brass stars of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Stretching along Hollywood Boulevard from Gower Street to Sycamore Avenue and along Vine Street from Yucca to Sunset Boulevard, this famous walkway is a favorite Hollywood attraction. Among the stars most frequently sought out by visitors are Marilyn Monroe at 1644 Hollywood.
Mann’s Chinese Theatre
Close to 200 other stars have left their imprints in this theatre built in 1927. Still the home of movie previews in Hollywood. You can catch several “Tours to the Stars' Homes” from there.

House of Blues
West of Highland and East of La Brea lies the world-famous House of Blues. Our local branch of this nationwide nightclub chain offers a music calendar, box office, dinner menus, directions, and other vital details.
American Film Institute
In The American Film Institute’s 100 Years …100 Thrills event, visitors are encouraged to realize how movie thrills are meticulously orchestrated by hundreds of artists working together – a writer invites us to believe; a composer cues the strings in just the right chord; an editor cuts away from the action at the perfect moment to make us squirm; and a digital artist expands the creative horizons of visual effects.
